iPod
An iPod is a small portable device which is used to listen to music and Podcasts. Normally earphones are used, but the iPod can also be plugged into a stereo system, boom box, car radio, amplified speakers or other devices that have a input jack. Podcasts can be downloaded from the Internet and transferred to the iPod. The iPod uses a program called iTunes to transfer these files.
A podcast is usually a MP3 audio file. There are many free podcasts available for downloading from the Internet. You can do a search for "podcast" and find more than you can listen to. Here is one site NPR Radio

Programs & Icons
A program can be just one file, but is usually a set of files. The main file is called an "executable" (ends with exe, such as program.exe) file and if you double click it, the program will open.
An icon is a link to a program. You can have several icons for the same program. An icon is not the program, but only a link to it so when a icon is deleted, it doesn't delete the program.
